The olfactory pyramid
Top, heart, base: how a perfume tells its story in three acts.
A perfume does not reveal itself all at once: it tells its story in three acts.
Top notes are the first impression — citrus, fresh spices, herbs. Volatile, they fade within fifteen minutes.
Heart notes form the character — flowers, fruits, green accords. They carry the perfume for two to four hours.
Base notes are the lasting signature — woods, musk, amber, vanilla. They are what remains on the skin in the evening, and in memory even longer.
